Game of Thrones is recent voor het derde jaar op rij in Nederland verkozen tot beste serie. 12 Emmy Awards werden er vorig jaar in de wacht gesleept, wat voor een record zorgde bij HBO. De serie werd voor het eerst outstanding drama series genoemd. En daarnaast is het wereldwijd ook al 4 jaar op rij de meest illegaal gedownloade serie.
Het zesde seizoen bestaat net als de eerste vijf seizoenen uit 10 afleveringen en is waarschijnlijk gebaseerd op een klein deel van het vijfde boek uit de A Song of Ice and Fire serie van George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons en voor het grootste deel op het tot nu toe nog ongepubliceerde zesde boek The Winds of Winter. Je kunt Game of Thrones seizoen 6 vanaf april op HBO bekijken.
